Conclusions

• Pressure directly affects the structure, and therefore is it essential to decipher the structure using high-pressure SAXS and crystallography, to investigate the energy landscape of proteins and enzymes.
• CHESS provides a demonstrated capability to perform high-pressure SAXS and crystallography (and FTIR), that is unique in the United States.
• In concert with users and collaborators, this high pressure biological research capability opens access to a profoundly important, yet mostly unexplored biological questions.
